Lieutenant Colonel Oscar M Lifshutz (1916-1990) served as rabbi of Agudas Achim North Shore Congregation in Chicago, Illinois before heading into the US Army where he served as an advisor to General Mark Clark at the end of World War II. His service brought him to Eastern Europe where he was involved in the restoration of religious services and artifacts.
